Aloha, my name is Ryder Jalbert. I was born and raised on the North Shore of Maui. Growing up in Hawaii, I could be found in the water or on a set of either two or four wheels. When I wasn’t found in any of those activities, I was at my desk drawing. In my youth, my art was simple and the act of drawing was just a hobby. After suffering a concussion last August, it became something more than that. Limited in what I could do, I retreated from the world and turned inward deeper into my mind. I began to understand my creative process in a new light, allowing me to express my ideas with a new intensity in which I had not previously experienced. Art is no longer just a hobby, but a passion and a means for me to ease my restless mind. I am still early on with my craft and hope to continue to improve my skills as life goes on.
